Benjamin Grimm

Benjamin Grimm (born November 26, 1984 in Jerusalem , Israel ) is a German lawyer , politician ( SPD ) and political official . Since December 3, 2019, he has been State Secretary in the State Chancellery of the State of Brandenburg and in this role the Commissioner for Media and Digitization .

Life

education and profession

Grimm grew up in Glienicke / Nordbahn and graduated from high school in 2004 . He then studied law at the European University Viadrina and the Humboldt University in Berlin . He passed his first state examination in law in 2009, followed by the second state examination in 2011. In 2012 he obtained a Master of Laws from Trinity College Dublin , from 2013 he worked as a lawyer and received his doctorate in 2016 with a dissertation on the subject of “Reforming the economic and economic system Monetary union after the crisis ”.

Political activities

Grimm has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 2006 , was chairman of Jusos Oberhavel between 2006 and 2010 and was elected to the district council of the Oberhavel district in 2008. Since 2012 he has been deputy chairman of the SPD Oberhavel, and in 2013 he became chairman of the district parliamentary group . In 2014 he was re-elected to the district council. In the 2017 federal election he ran as a direct candidate for the SPD in the Oberhavel - Havelland II constituency (constituency 58), received 22.7% of the first votes and thus received the second most votes after Uwe Feiler , but was not elected.

On December 3, 2019, Grimm was appointed State Secretary in the State Chancellery of Brandenburg by Kathrin Schneider , Head of the State Chancellery, following the formation of the Woidke III cabinet . In this function he is the representative for media and digitization of the state of Brandenburg and a member of the ZDF television council .

Private

Grimm is married and has a son and a daughter.
