Benny Schnier

Hans Jürgen "Benny" Schnier (born April 28, 1957 in Rahden , Westphalia ) is a German pop singer , actor and presenter who appeared in the 1970s as a singer under the stage name "Benny".

Life

At the age of 16, Schnier was discovered artistically by music producer Frank Farian . Schnier recorded several singles and a long-playing record. Some of his songs were commercially successful and brought him various television appearances, for example in the ZDF hit parade or at disco . His greatest successes, all German-language adaptations of international songs, were Amigo Charly Brown , Skateboard and Bin wieder frei , a cover version of Plastic Bertrand's Ça plane pour moi . From 1978 onwards, Schnier was also occasionally active as an actor in films and television productions.

From 1979 to 1988 Schnier was a presenter at ZDF ( ZDF holiday program together with Anke Engelke , PFIFF youth sports studio). Schnier then moderated the program “ Live from the slaughterhouse ” and others on the BR . In 1981 Schnier took over the moderation of the radio program "Pop nach 8" at Bayerischer Rundfunk, which Thomas Gottschalk had moderated until then . Schnier also worked as a music editor. In the following years he was a presenter for several radio stations, including "Radio M 1", "Radio C", " Radio Xanadu " and " Charivari ". Since then he has mainly worked as a moderator a. a. on Gute Laune TV , and recorded a new single again in 2011. From the beginning to the spring of 2006, Schnier auctioned and raffled products as a moderator on the now discontinued satellite channel Arena TV . In the summer of the same year he recorded the album "The hits of yesterday ... and today" with the international music manager and producer Ulrich Eichblatt .
