Thomas "Tom" Bohn (* 1959 in Wuppertal ) is a German television and film director , screenwriter and festival organizer.

Life

In 1982 Bohn did an internship as a television journalist in the ZDF studio in Washington and did research for the foreign journal , Today and Pictures from America . From 1983 he worked as a television journalist for Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich with his own contributions for the Rundschau , Tagesschau and Tagesthemen .

As a commercial filmmaker, he received two Gold and two Silver Lions from 1985 to 1993 at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival , the world's largest festival for advertising films.

Since 1993 Thomas Bohn has also directed television films and writes scripts, mainly for ARD , for seven Tatort episodes from the “Lena Odenthal” series, seven for Robert Atzorn alias “Kommissar Casstorff” and two Stahlnetz episodes.

Bohn is responsible for writing and directing the action thriller Straight Shooter (1999), realized the political thriller Das Kommando with Iris Berben and Robert Atzorn for the SWR in Baden-Baden in 2005, and shot the controversial television game A Question of Conscience with Christian Berkel in 2006 in the main role, which deals with torture in the police force.

Bohn made his movie Reality XL , a mystery thriller with Heiner Lauterbach , in 2011 without any funding or support from TV stations. At the beginning of 2012 he brought it to the cinema without a rental. Three years later he realized the black indie comedy Black Wedding with Beate Maes and Diego Wallraff in the leading roles , which won numerous awards at international independent film festivals.

In January 2015, Bohn and the actor Heiner Lauterbach initiated the Snowdance Independent Film Festival in Landsberg, which has since given independent filmmakers from all over the world a forum for their work. In 2018, Bohn became festival director there.

Since May 2020, Bohn has been a member of the Landsberg am Lech City Council as the only party member of the FDP.
