history

The festival was founded in 2014 by industry personalities such as Heiner Lauterbach and Thomas Bohn . Inspired by Robert Redford's independent festival Sundance , Snowdance aims to provide a forum for international, independent film productions that arise outside of the traditional production channels.

Lauterbach withdrew from the festival in 2018 for scheduling reasons, since then the patrons of the event have changed annually.
