Bento Munhoz da Rocha Neto (born December 17, 1905 in Paranaguá , † November 12, 1978 in Curitiba ) was a Brazilian politician . From January 31, 1951 to April 3, 1955 he was the 34th governor of the state of Paraná .

Life

Bento Munhoz da Rocha Netto was the son of the former governor Caetano Munhoz da Rocha and Olga Carneiro de Souza Munhoz da Rocha. He graduated from the Lazarista Diocesan High School and graduated from the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba with a degree in civil engineering . He was a professor in several fields at the Catholic University in Curitiba.

Political career

In 1946 he was elected a federal deputado for Paraná in the Brazilian Constituent Assembly. He was re-elected in 1959 after serving as first secretary to the Chamber of Deputies .

He founded the energy supplier Companhia Paranaense de Energia (Copel). I.a. he had the Figueira thermal power plant built. He initiated the construction of the Civic Center in Curitiba, a building complex that unites several government agencies in Curitiba. Under his government, the Guaíra Public Library and Theater were opened in Curitiba.

After serving as governor of the state, he became Brazilian Minister of Agriculture.
