Benton is a community in Des Moines County in Iowa in the United States on a plain west of the Mississippi.The main settlement Kingston is located in the northeast corner of the almost square area with about 9.75 km edge length, directly on the only country road that runs through the town .
Small business owners are the main sources of livelihood in the region. The truck drivers are the largest occupation group in the town. Large industrial companies are not represented in the community.
Especially German, especially Prussian and Lippe emigrants of the 1860s and 1870s settled in Benton. Even today, almost 50% of all residents are descended from German immigrants.
