Berberis interposita
Berberis × interposita is a species of the barberry genus ( Berberis ).
It is a hybrid of Hooker's barberry ( Berberis hookeri var. Viridis ) and the warty barberry (Berberis verruculosa) . The evergreen shrub is densely branched and can be up to 1.5 meters high; the branches are covered with fine warts. The leaves are broadly elliptical, up to 3.5 centimeters long, intensely copper-red when shoot, later glossy green on top, blue-green on the underside and with 3 to 6 teeth on each side. The yellow flowers appear in May and stand individually or in pairs on stems up to 1.5 centimeters long. The fruits are frosted black and blue. Berberis × interposita originated as a cultivated form and is often used as an ornamental shrub.
A special cultivated form is 'Wallich's Purple'.
