The Bergantes ( Catalan : riu Bergantes) is a left-hand tributary of the Guadalope in the Ebro river basin in northeastern Spain . Its catchment area is relatively small. In winter the river carries a lot of water.
geography
The Río Bergantes rises approximately 12.5 kilometers south-southeast of Morella in the Comarca of Els Ports in the province of Castellon on the slopes of Moles dels Fusters, then runs along Morella over, taking in Forcalls the Río de Cantavieja and Riu de Calders and runs further north via Zorita del Maestrazgo , then enters the province of Teruel , flows east at some distance past Aguaviva and finally flows together with the Guadalope into the Embalse de Calanda reservoir.
Tributaries
Left tributaries are the Río de Cantavieja, which rises in the province of Teruel, and the Riu de Calders.
fauna
The river's fauna includes brown trout , crayfish and otters . There are also occurrences of the Spanish ribbed newt .
