The Himalaya Bergenie ( Bergenia stracheyi ) is a plant of the genus Bergenia ( Bergenia ) in the family Saxifragaceae (Saxifragaceae). The species forms hybrids with Bergenia purpurascens and Bergenia ciliata . The specific epithet honors the British colonial official and plant collector Richard Strachey (1817–1908).

The Himalayan bergenia is an evergreen, perennial plant that reaches heights of 12 to 24 centimeters. It forms a rhizome . The leaf blade is evergreen, glabrous on both sides, only ciliate on the edge, obovate, almost wedge-shaped at the base and sometimes rounded. The petals are initially white, later they become reddish. Their plate is obovate or almost spatulate, gradually narrows into the base and measures 1 to 1.5 × 0.6 to 0.8 centimeters. The branches of the inflorescence mostly have stalked glands. The flowers are nodding.
The flowering time is in March and April.
Occurrence
The Himalayan bergenia occurs in eastern Afghanistan, western Pakistan, Kashmir, northern India, Tajikistan and Nepal in rock corridors and in birch forests at altitudes of 2700 to 4800 meters.

The Himalayan bergenia is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens, borders, dry stone walls, groups of trees and pond banks. It has been in culture since 1851 at the latest. There are several varieties.
