location

Berghofen is located about three kilometers southwest of Eching in the Isar-Inn hill country on the edge of the Isar valley . From here there is a good view of Moosburg an der Isar and Munich .

history

A Freising document from the year 784 at the time of Bishop Hitto von Freising mentions the land owner and vassal Kiso in Perchhovun . Berghofen was a populated, wealthy place in the 11th century. The farmers Heinrich, Fogel, Blanche, Marchart, Sifridus, Arbo, Ulrich and Schmid Mäus appear as witnesses in the documents of Moosburg Monastery. The monastery acquired the jus hofmarchiale on the Berghofen estates. In the Liber redituum 15 from 1359 the rights of the monastery St. Kastulus in the Hofmark Berghofen are recorded. In 1587 it gave the members of the Hofmark a court order and the judicial office of Preysing zu Kronwinkl .

Every year the village liberties were read out on the Schranne zu Berghofen. The St. Kastulus-Hofmark Berghofen existed until the secularization in Bavaria in 1803. The municipality of Berghofen formed in 1818 belonged to the regional court, district office and finally to the Landshut district . It included the districts of Berghofen, Büchlmann, Hasselfurth, Reit, Schwaigerhof, Stadler and Thal. On October 1, 1970, the municipality of Berghofen was incorporated into the municipality of Eching as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
