Bergholz is a parish in Jefferson County , Ohio , United States . The village is on Ohio State Route 524 .
history
During the Civil War , Bergholz was hit in 1863 by " Morgan's Raid ", one of the Confederate's northernmost military campaigns , under Brigadier General John Hunt Morgan . Morgan traveled with thousands of soldiers through Moorefield , Harrisville , New Athens , Smithfield , New Alexandria , Wintersville , Two Ridge, Richmond , Springfield , Bergholz and Monroeville before he was defeated and captured at the Battle of Salineville .
