The evangelical church Berglangenbach in the community of Baumholder in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Birkenfeld is considered a cultural monument and is visible from afar due to its exposed location.

location

The church is located in Berglangenbach in the Rhineland-Palatinate community of Baumholder, not far from the Saarland border. The building is located to the west of the town center on an exposed spot on Kirchenweg. The cemetery is a few meters west of the church; There are individual houses to the north. The church is surrounded by meadows and trees to the south and east.

history

The building was designed by the architect August Senz , who was head of the responsible provincial church building office from 1904. The foundation stone was laid on August 26, 1906. The church was consecrated on September 22, 1907.

The bells were in the First and Second World War melted . Today the church has two bells again. The bombing raids on Berglangenbach on February 19, 1945 also caused severe damage to the church. It was not fully repaired until 1956.

At the beginning of the 1970s, today's windows made of colored and white glass were installed.

The Berglangenbacher church belongs together with the churches in Eckersweiler and Berschweiler to the Evangelical parish of Berschweiler , which is part of the parish of Obere Nahe .

architecture

The Berglangenbach church is a small, historicizing effusive stone building. The outer walls made of effusive stone are partially plastered white. The layout of the church is based on a Greek cross . This makes the church stand out from other buildings in the region, as this floor plan was mainly used in large churches. The church tower forms the eastern corner of the building and contains the central entrance to the church, which can be reached via a longer stone staircase.

The church has a total of 360 seats.
