On January 1, 1973, the rural community of Kórnik was created from 1954 Gromadas . From 1975 to 1998 the municipality came to the greatly reduced Poznan Voivodeship (1975-1998) . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The town and country municipality of Kórnik were merged in 1990/1991 to form the town and country municipality.
