The Donar mine was a planned mine of RAG Deutsche Steinkohle AG in Westphalia . The mine should get by without subsidies. If the project had been implemented, this would have been the first new coal mine in Germany for several decades. The coal mining had started earlier in the year, 2015. However, in autumn 2012 the project was finally abandoned.
location
The Donar mining field lies under the territory of the municipalities of Drensteinfurt , Hamm and Ascheberg .
history
The Donar field was originally intended as a connecting mine to the Radbod colliery . In order to develop Donar, the shafts Radbod 6 and 7 were sunk and shaft 6 connected underground with the Radbod mine field by a cross passage. After the closure of the Radbod colliery, planning for the now independent Donar mine was continued and the shafts were renamed Donar 1 and 2.
Planning variants
- Double shaft system at the Radbod 6 / Donar 1 site, additional conveyor shaft Donar 2, and a weather shaft north of the mine field.
- Radbod 5 is used as a mining shaft, Donar 1 is used as a fresh weather shaft, the cable car and material transport , and a weather shaft north of the mine field.
- Connection of the funding to the Heinrich Robert site in Hamm via a conveyor mountain . Donar 1 and weather shaft like variant 1 and 2.
In January 2006, variant 3 was given preference.
In 2006 an environmental impact study was commissioned. A scoping appointment should take place on October 23, 2006.
Stocks
The Donar field has reserves of approximately 100 million tons of coking coal. The Donar mine was supposed to produce coking coal only. An annual production of around 3 million tons of coking coal, which is produced from two high-performance struts, was aimed for. The Donar mine was intended to create up to 3,000 new jobs over the total duration of the colliery of around 30 years.
perspective
No investor was found for the Donar mine. The Donar project should be implemented depending on the world market price for coking coal. In autumn 2012 the project was finally abandoned when the shafts were backfilled. In 2016, drilling for natural gas was carried out on the site of the former Radbod 7 (Donar 2) shaft, but with no prospect.
