The mountain meadows around Schönheide and Stützengrün are a Natura 2000 area in the municipalities of Schönheide and Stützengrün in the west of the Ore Mountains , according to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) ("FFH Directive" for short). that serves to maintain several habitat types according to the directive and species.

location

According to the definition of the Habitats Directive, the area belongs to the continental biogeographical region . According to the natural map of Saxony, it lies in the mesogeochore "Schönheider plateau" and belongs to the microgeochore "Schönheider Kuppengebiet". This also applies to the Stützengrüner sub-areas.

The Natura 2000 area "Upper Zwickau Muldetal" is located to the south in Schönheide.

description

According to the description of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation , the area is a complex of grassland areas with fresh, wet and mountain meadows as well as small-scale mixed beech forest, bog forest and intermediate moor . Ten habitat types (LRT) from the FFH regulations of the European Union are named by the Federal Office, including mountain mowing meadows (LRT 6520) with 49.56 hectares, montane spruce forests (LRT 9410) with 17.74 hectares, flatland hay meadows (LRT 6510 ) with 3.91 hectares, but also silicate rocks with crevice vegetation (LRT 8220), silicate rocks with pioneer lawn (LRT 8230) and dry heaths (LRT 4030). For the mountain meadows Gold Haferwiese and Bärwurz - red fescue -Wiese characteristic. The latter is the most common plant community in the Saxon low mountain ranges.

Species-rich nebulas (LRT 6230) with 0.63 hectares and birch bog forests (LRT 91D1) with 0.36 hectares are priority habitats. In the former habitat type, there are highly endangered plant species such as real arnica (Arnica montana) , spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) and wood lice (Pedicularis sylvatica). The presence of these species predominantly or exclusively in the mountainous region in Saxony means that this type of habitat is of national importance. According to the species composition and extent of the area, the mountain hay meadows are assessed as regionally important, and because of the site conditions and the peat moss-rich spruce forests, the montane spruce forests are of high quality and nationally significant.

The state of Saxony describes the data for this FFH area on the website Umwelt.Sachsen.de. Basic Protection Ordinance with annex, complete area data, the standard data sheet, reading instructions for the standard data sheet and a short version of the management plan can be downloaded.

Of a total of 135.5 hectares, the Schönheider share with 93.2 hectares makes up 69%, the Stützengrüner area share is 31%.

The area consists of seven sub-areas 1 "Heinzwinkel", 2 "Stützengrün Süd", 3 "Baumannsberg - Knock", 4 "Stützengrün - Hübel", 5 "Westlicher Stollmühlengrund", 6 "Keilberg" and 7 "Schädlichsberg", of which the Areas 1, 3, 6 and 7 belong to Schönheide.

Part of the area is taken up by the Moore nature reserve south of Schönheide , which was designated in 2013 . To the south of this area are forests with the mountains Großer and Keiner Keilberg and Hammerkogel towards the Zwickauer Mulde . The partial area sloping down towards the Tannenbach in the Schönheid district of Heinzwinkel is designated as a natural monument.

In Stützengrün a part of the area is grazed by a herd of suckler cows of Scottish highland cattle. In Schönheide, a herd of suckler cows is kept in parts of the area, other parts are used to grow fodder plants.

Protected position

The area was placed under protection by ordinance of the Chemnitz Regional Directorate of January 31, 2011. The annex to the ordinance describes the protective purpose

1. Preservation of valuable grassland areas with species-rich mountain meadows and grasslands, but also fresh and wet meadows as well as transitions to intermediate moors and moor forests and an adjacent small-scale mixed beech forest.
2. Preservation or restoration of a favorable conservation status of the natural habitats of community interest occurring in the area in accordance with Annex I of the Habitats Directive, including the species endowment characteristic of a favorable conservation status as well as the spatially and functionally linked, regionally typical habitats that are necessary for the conservation of ecological functionality of the habitats of Annex I of the Habitats Directive are important.

Development

A mountain meadow adventure trail, mountain meadow festivals, hikes and excursions in Stützengrün are supervised by the Westerzgebirge Landscape Management Association. The forest road “Hammergockel” leads from the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde to the southern tip of sub-area 6 “Keilberg”. It is not to be confused with the “ Hammerkogel ” mountain .
