Controversies in the public eye

School lunch

In his book Vom Verzehr is advised against, Hans-Ulrich Grimm went into detail about the special nutrition program of the Berlin Cosmopolitan School.

School fees

At the beginning of 2012, after a sharp increase in school fees, the Berlin Senate announced a review of the school authorities. In a 2016 study, two scientists from the Berlin Social Research Center (WZB) made private schools in Berlin, including the Cosmopolitan School, the accusation that they would charge their parents too much. This disregards the principle enshrined in the constitution that "students are not encouraged to segregate according to their parents' ownership". This allegation was taken up in public and led to an intensified scrutiny of the school. The school's particularly good Abitur grades were also discussed in the press.
