The Berlin Kobra Ladies are an American football women's team from Berlin . They were founded in 2004 as the successor to the Berlin Adler Girls and belong to the Berlin Kobras .

history

After the 2004 season, many of the Berlin Adler Girls' players left their club to start something new. Under the umbrella of Pro Sport Berlin 24 e. V., to which the Berlin Kobras are affiliated, they found a new home.

The team played their first game in April 2005 against the Austrian national champion Vienna Vikings Ladies . The friendly game was lost with 6:40. The 2005 Bundesliga season ended for the Kobra Ladies with a semi-final defeat against the Hamburg Amazons .

2006 In the following year, the Kobra Ladies reached the Ladies Bowl for the first time . As champions of the southern season, they defeated the Nürnberg Hurricanes in the play-offs with 48:12, but had to admit defeat to the reigning champions, the Munich Cowboys Ladies , with 14:41 in the final.

In 2007 the Kobra Ladies reached the Ladies Bowl again without giving their opponents any points. They won the semifinals 62-0 against the Mülheim Shamrocks . In the Ladies Bowl they beat the Nürnberg Hurricanes with 55:18 and became German champions for the first time. Also the season

2008 was successful, after a 13: 7 semi-final win against the Hamburg Amazons, the Kobra Ladies defeated the Nürnberg Hurricanes again in the final, just 40:37.

In 2009 the Kobra Ladies competed in the northern relay of the women's Bundesliga and met the Düsseldorf Panther Ladies in a friendly before the season started, and they successfully defeated them in Düsseldorf. During the season they had encounters with the Hamburg Amazons , the Dresden Monarchs Diamonds and the Mülheim Shamrocks . In the semi-finals of the entire women's Bundesliga they faced the Düsseldorf Panther Ladies again , who they defeated this time too (46:06). So this year the Kobras Ladies entered the Ladiesbowl undefeated. There the Berlin Kobra Ladies once again saw the Nuremberg Hurricanes in the eye. But as in the two previous years, they also won the XVIII this time. Ladiesbowl 2009 on September 19th in Lübeck with 41:26.

2010 The 2010 season was again completed by the Kobra Ladies in the Northern League. So they faced the same opponents of the season as in the year before. However, this time the preparation game took place at the Cologne Falconets' square . Before the American Football World Cup for women in Sweden, the Kobras first played a game against Mülheim (44: 8), then against Dresden (52: 6), again against Mülheim (30:20) and finally one more against Hamburg ( 44: 0). The last two regular season games were against Dresden (44: 0) and Hamburg (46:42). In the play-offs, the Kobras met the Ladiesbowl opponent of the last three years, the Nürnberg Hurricanes, unusually early. But they also mastered this challenge with a final score of 28:14. In the XIX. Ladiesbowl they fought doggedly against the newly founded team Düsseldorf Blades and beat them 34:28 in the first overtime.

2011 For the 2011 season, the AFVD made a new division into leagues and so the Kobras found themselves in Group B of the 1st Women's Bundesliga this year. Before that, however, they played a preparatory game against the Mülheim Shamrocks (32:00). The first point game of the Kobras was played in the home stadium, the Wilmersdorf Stadium , against the Munich Cowboy Ladies (36:13). The second league game also took place in the home stadium in Wilmersdorf. The opponent were the Crailsheim Hurricanes and were defeated with 50: 8. The women returned from the first second round match in Munich with 42:20, from the second in Crailsheim with 18:30 and thus secured the championship in Bundesliga group B. With a 50:20 success in the semifinals over the Crailsheim Hurricanes, the Kobras moved to the sixth Times in a row in the Ladiesbowl. As in the previous year, the opponent was called Düsseldorf Blades. These were beaten by 42:21, the Kobra Ladies became German champions in American football for the fifth time in a row.

2012 In the 2012 preseason, the friendship match from 2005 was repeated, which at the time clearly ended with the Vienna Vikings Ladies . This time, however, the Kobra Ladies proved that they are rightly the German champions and beat the Austrian national champions on Viennese soil in the "Battle of the Champions" with 40:28. The Berlin team played their first game of the season against a newcomer from the 2nd Bundesliga, the Baltic Lady Hurricanes, and beat them with a record result (102: 00) in their home stadium. In the second game there was a reunion with the runner-up of the past two years, the Düsseldorf Blades. This was the first defeat since the 2008 season, the Kobras were beaten 14:18. The third game of the season again led a promoted team to Berlin, the Bochum Miners were defeated with 94:00. A week later the cobras drove to Kiel and returned home victorious with a result of 00:86. The second leg against the Düsseldorf Blades ended in a draw with 26:26 and gave the Kobras 2nd place in Group B. The victories against the Hamburg Amazons (home game) and Bochum Miners (away) could not change the table situation, as the Düsseldorf Blades won the remaining games of the season. As 2nd in group B, the Berlin women had to go to the semi-finals in Crailsheim to the Hurricanes. These were defeated with 44:20. This resulted in the seventh finals in a row. Once again the Düsseldorf Blades were waiting there, surprisingly clearly defeated with 58:22 in the Ladiesbowl XXI in Frankfurt / Oder. This is the sixth time in a row that the Kobra Ladies have won the Ladiesbowl.

2013 Led by the new head coach Daniel Henkelmann, they started in the Bundesliga Group A and met runner-up Düsseldorf Blades, Hamburg Amazons and Bochum Miners in the regular season. All games were won partly clearly, partly a bit narrower, so that the Kobra Ladies were in first place at the end of the regular season. In the semifinals they defeated the Munich Cowboys Ladies 24:20 and made it into the Ladiesbowl for the eighth time in a row. There you met the first group in group B, the Crailsheim Hurricanes. They beat last year's finalist Düsseldorf Blades in the second semi-final. In the final, which took place for the second time in Frankfurt / Oder, the guests from Baden-Württemberg were narrowly defeated 20:14. The seventh German championship title was perfect.

2014 With an almost completely changed coaching staff under the new head coach Tom Balkow, they started in Group A. There were only two other teams there that year. The first game of the first half of the season against the Mülheim Shamrocks was lost 28:14. Against the next opponent, the Hamburg Amazons, the team drove the first win of the season with 54:00. The Kobras played their first game of the second half at home against Mülheim and won 62:34. The second game of the round in Hamburg also ended well with 00:60. The Kobras contested the semi-finals because of their good points at home against the Munich Cowboys Ladies and also won clearly with 38:00. In the final in Crailsheim they faced the Mülheim Shamrocks again, but had to admit defeat to them again (22:52). This broke the series of titles that had been going on for seven years.
