2017 season
With the 2017 season there were again changes in the groups and teams that reported for the 1st women's Bundesliga. The newcomer Allgäu Comets Ladies, who would compete in their very first season in the 1st women's Bundesliga, caused surprises. Also surprising was the sudden withdrawal of the Mülheim Shamrocks, who had initially registered for the 1st women's Bundesliga. The Shamrocks posted a statement on Facebook: "After the report for DBL1, we unfortunately still had a few departures, so that we no longer have the staff to cope with the season."
For the first time in the history of the Ladiesbowl, the final of the 1st women's Bundesliga, the two runners-up from each group faced each other in the final. In the first semi-final, the Mainz women won 26:36 after being behind at halftime against the favorite Hamburg Amazons. In the second semi-final, the favorite Munich Cowboys Ladies met the Berlin Kobra Ladies. Berlin beat Munich with 6:18. So the final of 2017 was certain: the Berlin Kobra Ladies and Mainz Golden Eagles Ladies met as in the previous year.
The venue for the Ladiesbowl was Mainz for the first time. The final itself was organized within a week and a half. After a 13: 0 lead for Mainz, the Berliners equalized at half time to 13:14. The big turning point in the game was an interception shortly before the end of Berlin. A few seconds before overtime, Berlin succeeded in the lead touchdown shortly afterwards, thus preventing overtime. The end result was 26:32 for the Berlin Kobra Ladies, who celebrated their tenth German champion. The Mainz Golden Eagles became German runners-up for the second year in a row.
