organization structure

The Crown Group was divided until 2011 organisationally into three areas:

The machine factory, the vehicle factory and the agricultural machinery trade are legally independent subsidiaries. The financial management and strategic orientation of the Krone Group is in family hands. There are 26 other locations in Germany, and as an internationally operating company , the Krone Group is represented in 40 other countries around the world, making it one of the three largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in Europe alongside Schmitz Cargobull and Wielton .

Since August 1, 2011, the agricultural machinery trade has been outsourced from the Krone Group. The holding now still combines the machine factory and the vehicle factory.

history

The machine factory developed from a forge founded in 1906 by Bernhard and Anna Krone . In addition to this, the couple ran an inn and traded in agricultural equipment, iron goods, household appliances as well as stoves and ovens. His two sons Bernard and Heinrich had learned the blacksmith's trade from their father and took over the father's company in 1924 for health reasons.

After rebuilding the company in the post-war years, the machine factory benefited from the economic growth of the 1950s and brought new products to the market. As a result, the number of employees also increased. While the company still had 70 employees in 1950, ten years later there were already 320 employees working for Krone. At the beginning of the 1960s, the job market in Spelle and the surrounding area was exhausted, so that the company had to drive around 200 employees daily from a radius of 50 kilometers by bus.

For the increased agricultural machinery production, Bernard Krone decided on an additional production site in Werlte, where there was a connection to the rail network and a workforce. In 1964, the manufacture of superstructures for loading wagons in Spelle was started in Werlte . A little later, the series production of agricultural dump trucks was added.

At the end of the 1960s, the number of employees in the company had reached 700, 180 of whom were employed in the Werlte branch. In 1969, 25,000 machines left the works, and in 1970 sales had risen to 67 million DM. After the market for agricultural technology declined, commercial vehicle construction began in 1971. After an international expansion, the company structure was adapted. As of January 1, 2000, the new form of partnership, the GmbH & Co. KG, replaced the GmbH.

Today the machine works Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG exports to over 40 countries worldwide. The company has developed into a full-liner in the field of forage harvest.
