Bernard van Beurden

Bernard van Beurden (born December 5, 1933 in Amsterdam ; † May 15, 2016 ) was a Dutch composer .

Life

Van Beurden played the violin at the age of eight and composed a work for violin and cello at the age of 11 . He graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory in the subjects of violin, viola and composition with Rudolf Escher and Ton de Leeuw .

He then worked for seven years as a producer and composer for Dutch radio. As a teacher he worked at the music school in Amsterdam, at the theater school in Amsterdam and at the Rotterdam Conservatory . He gave numerous workshops in the Netherlands, Sweden , Germany , Poland , France and Portugal , especially for further training in amateur music.

In terms of composition, he created works for chamber music , theater , a chamber opera , but especially avant-garde works for wind orchestras in some very unusual formations. His works are performed in the USA and Japan , among others .
