Bernardo Alves (born November 20, 1974 in Belo Horizonte ; full name: Bernardo Cardoso Resende Alves ) is a Brazilian show jumper. Alves lives in Belgium and is trained there by Rodrigo Pessoa . In the meantime he was also active in Ludger Beerbaum's stable and was part of the successful Audi team. Two of his greatest successes so far were the victories in the Grand Prix of Calgary and the European Prize at the CHIO Aachen . In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games with the Brazilian team . 2008 his horse Chupa Chup was at the Olympic Games in Beijing positively to the means capsaicin tested and Alves was suspended for three and a half months.

At the Pan American Games in 2011 , he won individual bronze and team silver with Bridgit .

In December 2011 he was 69th in the show jumping world rankings.
