Bernd Boll (* 1951 ) is a German historian.

Boll studied history and English at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he received his doctorate in 1993 with a thesis on the war economy and forced labor in Offenburg from 1939 to 1945 .

He was stimulated by discussions with his grandfather Johann Boll (1903–1989) about his work in the proletarian resistance against the Nazi dictatorship and his four years of forced labor in the Papenburg / Ems concentration camp. He dedicated his dissertation to this.

From 1994 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research in the field of theory and history of violence and co-author of the exhibition War of Extermination. Crimes of the Wehrmacht from 1941 to 1944 . To this end, he compiled 800 amateur photographs.

In 2003/04 he was a fellow of the pro-Jewish Charles H. Revson Foundation and did research on The SS Death's Head Units and the Holocaust, 1939-1942 .
