Bernd Brandl (sociologist)

Bernd Brandl (born January 17, 1973 in Graz ) is an economist and social scientist .

Live and act

Bernd Brandl completed his studies at the Universities of Graz and Vienna. He was then a lecturer at the University of Graz and the Vienna University of Economics and Business , then held an assistant professorship at the University of Vienna and completed his habilitation there in 2009. In 2012 he went to Great Britain and taught at the University of York and later at the University of Newcastle .

He is Professor of Management at the University of Durham and has worked in several areas of economics and social sciences, with his main occupation being in the area of Industrial Relations and Labor Relations. Above all, he researches the emergence and modes of operation of organizations, structures and processes of collective wage negotiations (or collective bargaining) , as well as the institutions, systems and actors of the global labor market. Methodologically, many of his works are characterized by a focus on internationally comparative analysis approaches. A characteristic of his research is also the inter- and multidisciplinarity, the content of which extends to subject areas of business administration , sociology , political science and economics .
