Bernd Bruns

Bernd Bruns (born January 19, 1935 in Westphalia ; † January 16, 2016 ) was a German cartoonist .

Life

After training as a typesetter in Dortmund Bruns studied at the art school in Dortmund School Folkwang Essen graphics, graphic design and illustration at the, as well as graphic arts and sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He earned his living, among other things, in road construction.

After completing his studies, Bruns drew cartoons for magazines and the daily press . Since 1962 he worked as a cartoonist and drew for Handelsblatt , Kölner Stadtanzeiger , ZDF , Tagesspiegel , Die Zeit , Neue Ruhr Zeitung , Tagesanzeiger Zurich, Berliner Zeitung , Aachener Volkszeitung and since 1991 daily for the Ostthüringer Zeitung , which he only started with when he retired 79 years ago left again in 2014.

Bruns last lived in Berlin-Zehlendorf after living in Cologne, Essen and Höven on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath. He was a passionate golfer.
