Bernd Herrmann (anthropologist)

Bernd Herrmann (born February 3, 1946 in Berlin ) is a German anthropologist and environmental historian .

Career

After studying anthropology at the Free University of Berlin , Herrmann graduated in biology in 1970 . 1973 followed his doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. In 1975 he qualified as a professor at the Free University of Berlin in anthropology . In 1978 he accepted a professorship for anthropology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1995/1996 Herrmann was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin . In 1998 he was made a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . Since 2000 Herrmann was also a co-opted member of the Philosophical Faculty of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. In spring 2011 he was retired and retired.

Herrmann held visiting professorships in Halle (Saale) , Florence , London , Vienna , and Thessaloniki . He is the author and editor of papers on the biology of prehistoric and early historical , medieval and early modern populations, the archaeometry of biogenic materials, environmental history in the Middle Ages and early modern times, as well as works on historical anthropology and forensic anthropology .
