Far beyond his own church and particularly recognized by Cardinal Karl Lehmann , he is considered a specialist in the history of piety and Protestant monasticism . He is also valued as one of the best Bultmann connoisseurs. Jaspert has been living in retirement in the Rhön since 2009.
