Bernd Kötting

Bernd Kötting (born April 12, 1938 in Twist , Meppen district ; † May 31, 2019 ) was a German journalist .

Career

Kötting was the son of the businessman Hermann Kötting and his wife Helena. He grew up in Twist. He attended school in nearby Meppen. During this time he supplemented his pocket money with reports for the Emsland News . After studying in Münster, he wrote for the Westfälische Nachrichten . He became head of the Westfalen editorial team, later the city editorial office and at the same time deputy editor-in-chief.

From the end of 1983 he was deputy editor-in-chief behind Werner Giers and publisher of the regional editions of the Münchner Merkur . On September 1, 1994, he moved to Süddeutscher Verlag and became Regional Publishing Director of the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

He held the position of treasurer of the Münster-Münsterland press association on a voluntary basis .
