After graduating from the Jakob-Grimm-Schule Rotenburg an der Fulda , he studied Protestant theology from 1978 to 1984 at the Philipps University in Marburg and at the Georg August University in Göttingen . From 1986 to 1990 he was a research assistant to Hartmut Stegemann at the Göttingen Theological Faculty, New Testament and Ancient Judaism. In 1990 he received his doctorate with a thesis on "The origin and design of the early Christian meal". He then received a grant from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation and worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 1993 . From 1994 to 1996 he was vicar of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover in the Paulus Congregation, Wolfsburg, and in the Hildesheim seminary . After his habilitation in 1995 and the second ecclesiastical examination, he held deputy professorships in Aachen and Siegen and was appointed professor for exegesis and theology of the New Testament at the University of Siegen in 2000. Research and Teaching

Bernd Kollmann deals with, among other things, Jesus myths, the Sermon on the Mount , contemporary New Testament history and miracles in antiquity and Christianity. Another research focus is on Alexander Monachus . In addition to a large number of articles in specialist journals and lexicon articles (including for dtv and Reclam), he has more than ten monographs or anthologies, several of which are also in foreign-language editions. His best-known works are the book New Testament Miracle Stories, now in its third edition and also translated into Italian, and the book Die Jesusmythen, also available in Dutch and Spanish . Sensations and legends .

His views on the Gospel of Jude are largely part of the modern professional world. This is what Kollmann u. a. the Tübingen Germanist Walter Jens , who in his book Der Fall Judas even calls for Judas to be beatified. He also reproduces that parts of the professional world believe that without Judas, Jesus 'plan of salvation would not have been possible and thus Jesus' plan would not have worked out. The position of Jesus is one of the myths mentioned in his book . There seemed to be a parallel to Mark's Gospel and the apocryphal applicable Gospel of Judas .

He discusses whether the Mosaic Law is fully applicable. The canonical Gospels ( Mk 12,30f  EU ) also express the fact that Jesus subordinates the old laws to the new revelations insofar as the double commandment to love God and neighbor must be fulfilled.

Memberships

Kollmann is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS).
