Bernd Leber

Bernd Leber (born 1944 ) is a German social pedagogue and sociologist .

Life

Leber completed a degree in social pedagogy in Munich in 1967 and a degree in sociology in Berlin in 1977, each with a diploma.

From 1973 to 1980 he worked as a specialist advisor for asylum seekers and migrants , and then until 1984 as a program officer at the UNHCR in Kenya and East Africa . From 1984 to 1986 he was a professor for social education with a focus on intercultural social work, migration and asylum in Emden .

From 1989 to 1991 Leber was a development policy advisor and expert with a focus on migration and flight in Africa and Asia, and from 1991 to 1992 "Chief of Mission" of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the organization of migration movements in and from Iraq and the Gulf region after First Iraq War . In 1993 he founded the consulting firm proMig Consult , which offers advice and reports on the topics of migration, flight, conflict / post conflict, demobilization and reintegration in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Balkans .

Leber writes as a guest author for the Axis of the Good .
