Bernd Lohaus (cultural functionary)

Bernd Lohaus (born December 16, 1926 - December 20, 1991 ) was a German cultural functionary. From 1959 to 1990 he was Federal Secretary of the Kulturbund of the GDR .

Life

Lohaus was born the son of a miner in the Ruhr area . After 1945 Lohaus became a member of the Antifa youth in Aue (Saxony) . In 1947 he began his full-time activity at the Kulturbund, was district secretary of the Kulturbund in Aue from 1947 to 1950, from 1950 secretary, then from 1952 to 1959 first secretary of the Kulturbund in the Dresden district . From 1959 to 1990 he was federal secretary and from 1959 to 1987 also first secretary of the Kulturbund in Berlin .

Since 1978 Lohaus was also a member of the central board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship . Lohaus was a member of the SED .
