Bernd Ott

Bernd Ott (born July 15, 1949 in Eisenbach (now Selters (Taunus) )) is a professor of technology and its didactics at the Technical University of Dortmund .

Life

After graduating from the Camberg secondary school in 1966, Ott first completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter at the Deutsche Bundesbahn . He was then admitted to study mechanical engineering at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences , which he successfully completed in 1972. Thereupon he began studying for the higher teaching position at vocational schools at the University of Kaiserslautern . After passing the first state examination, he worked as a trainee lawyer at the Kaiserslautern vocational school from 1975 to 1976. Then he worked as a teacher for employment (civil servant on probation) at the technical college I Ludwigshafen . At the same time, Ott worked part-time as a lecturer at the Pfalztechnikum Ludwigshafen until 1977. In 1978 he was appointed to the teaching staff. In total, he worked as a vocational school teacher for more than 20 years.

In 1981 he did his doctorate at the University of Kaiserslautern on the subject of "Job satisfaction among young people in training" in the social sciences department . Until his habilitation in 1993 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Karlsruhe , he was head of physics and mechanical engineering as well as general didactics and vocational education in Kaiserslautern and Speyer . In 1994 he received a professorship at the University of Karlsruhe. Since 1997 Ott has been Professor of the Chair of Technology and Its Didactics at the Technical University of Dortmund.
