Bernd Petermann (born August 8, 1927 in Duisburg - Ruhrort ; † August 22, 2009 in Düsseldorf ) was a lawyer and politician for the CDU .

Live and act

Bernd Petermann, a flak helper and soldier during the war, studied law and political science at the University of Cologne after graduating from high school in 1946 and received his doctorate in 1953. jur. From 1953 to 1954 he worked as an attorney's assistant, from 1954 as a lawyer at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court. Bernd Petermann was a member of the city council of Düsseldorf for the CDU from 1961 to 1970. As a member of parliament, he represented constituency 048, Düsseldorf V , in the Düsseldorf state parliament from 1970 to 1980. In recognition of his political activities, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon and 1st class.

In the areas of school and university law, private school law and private school financing, he has asserted legal positions in favor of the principle of subsidiarity . His legal commentary on the then new NRW School Participation Act of November 30, 1977, which he published in February 1978 and which grew out of his participation in the legislative discussion, received wide attention not only in specialist circles over many editions.

In addition to his legal and political work, he held many honorary posts in the Catholic Church . From 1972 to 1986 he was chairman of the Diocesan Council of Catholics in the Archdiocese of Cologne . For his services to the Cologne Church in 1983, Joseph Cardinal Höffner presented him with the Commander's Cross of the Order of St. Gregory with a star on behalf of Pope John Paul II .

Petermann became a member of the Catholic student association Markomannia in the KV in Münster as early as 1953 , where he met his wife Helene Petermann, nee. Huntgeburth, with whom he had four children.
