history

The first years

On February 9, 1901, the KStV Markomannia was brought into being by the division of the Catholic student association Germania, which was founded in 1864.

After the Markomannia resided in various Munster localities: Alte Börse (today's branch of the Westfälische Nachrichten , Cafe Steiner (later Café Schucan, today a shop of a drugstore chain), Münsterscher Hof (Alter Steinweg), Bullenkopp (Alter Fischmarkt), Norbertstrasse 1) bought today's property at Kampstrasse 10 from the house association for 31,500 marks. After the groundbreaking ceremony in mid-March 1911, the foundation stone was laid on April 30, 1911. The Markomannenhaus is thus the oldest, permanently owned connection house in Münster. In 1923 a boathouse was also built in Münster-Handorf an der Werse.

time of the nationalsocialism

In order to be able to fulfill the requirements that the Nazi regime placed on the corporations, it was decided to merge with the KStV Tuiskonia, which was implemented on April 15, 1934. Due to financial difficulties, the liaison house was rented to the labor service in 1936 . In order for them to continue to study, most students had to join sub-groups of the NSDAP. On May 14, 1936, all students who were members of Nazi organizations were forbidden to "work in student associations". In agreement with the old rulers, the activitas of Markomannia-Tuiskonia was dissolved on May 25, 1936. The Markomannen notifications could no longer be printed in the printing house of the Regensberg bookstore, as this had been expropriated by the Gestapo in 1937 . After the last joint event in September 1937, the old gentlemen's association also finally dissolved, thus pre-empting the Himmler decree of June 20, 1938 .

Re-establishment

The house of the KStV Markomannia in Münster

After the Second World War, the Hausverein eV was reconstructed under the old board on October 25, 1947 in accordance with the "Ordinance of September 15, 1947 for the Restoration of Dissolved Associations". In 1950 the old gentlemen's association Markomannia-Tuiskonia merged with the active Monasteria originally founded in Göttingen in 1932 to form Markomannia-Tuiskonia-Monasteria. Markomannia left this union on February 9, 1952 in the Ratsschänke and became independent on the same day.

The establishment of the Aktivitas was reported to the university on February 11, 1952. The house association and old gentlemen's association was chaired by Governor Bernhard Salzmann . Aktivitas started the club business in the summer semester of 1952 under the re-establishment of senior Viktor Egen.

The marcomannia of modern times

In 1955, the Markomannia set the suburb presidium with the suburb president Viktor Egen for the first time. In the summer semester of 1956, the Marcomanni went to the Hegge for the first time. In 1969, after the death of Governor Bernhard Salzmann, the chairmanship of the old gentlemen's association was replaced by lawyer and notary Wilhelm Huntgeburth, who was succeeded by senior city director Heinrich Austermann in the 1962 summer semester . In 1976 Viktor Egen sen. elected chairman of the old gentlemen's association, 1954 Karl-Eberhard Zangerl, 2000 Bernhard Egen.

On January 1, 2003, the entire old rulers of the KStV Tuiskonia-Monasteria joined the Markomannia while maintaining their corporate identity as B-Philistines. The main initiator of the joining of the Tuiskonia Monasteria was the well-known Münster lawyer Wilderich Fehrmann , who was made an honorary philistine for these services.

In 2012/13, the KStV Markomannia provided the local presidium in the KV for the third time in the club's history.
