Helmut Bertram
Helmut Bertram (born March 20, 1910 in Soest ; † January 27, 1981 there ) was a German politician of the Center Party .
Life and work
Helmut Bertram studied law in Münster and Munich . In 1929 he became a member of the K.St.V. Markomannia in the Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Associations (KV) . He received his doctorate in law and passed the assessor examination in 1936. From 1940 to 1945 Bertram took part in the Second World War, towards the end of which he was taken prisoner by the Americans. Since 1945 he worked as a lawyer and notary in Soest.
Political party
In the mid-1950s, Bertram, who had been a member of the Center Party from 1925 to 1933, tried, on behalf of the Center's federal executive committee, to organize a broad alliance of Christian-oriented small parties for the federal election in order to offer disappointed CDU / CSU voters an alternative. However, it was only possible to get the Bavarian Party and the DP split-off Deutsch-Hannoversche Party on board . The candidacy under the designation " Federal Union " (this name was already used for the parliamentary group in the first legislative period of the Bundestag) was only successful in North Rhine-Westphalia , Lower Saxony and Bavaria . The result was disappointing nationwide at 0.9%.
MP
1947/48 Helmut Bertram was a member of the zone advisory board . He belonged to the German Bundestag from November 3, 1949, when he replaced Rudolf Amelunxen , until the end of the first electoral term for the Center Party, which formed a parliamentary group with the Bavarian Party from December 14, 1951 under the name Federal Union . From July 16, 1952 to December 10, 1953 he was a member of the European Parliament .
