Bernhard Aubin

Bernhard Carl Hermann Aubin (born November 13, 1913 in Düsseldorf ; † October 24, 2005 in Saarbrücken ) was a German legal scholar .

The son of the historian Hermann Aubin was from 1947 a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law . In 1951 he was made a permanent adjunct professor at the University of Lausanne . In 1957 he followed a call as professor for international private law at the University of Saarbrücken . At the same time he was director of the University Institute for European Law from 1957 to 1982 and director of the Europa-Institut Saarbrücken from 1958 to 1961 . He was awarded the Medal of Honor of the German Commission for UNESCO and the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
