Bernhard Balkenhol (born November 16, 1914 in Elpe ; † November 9, 2004 ibid) was a German CDU politician .

Life

Balkenhol, who was of Roman Catholic faith, was initially a tractor, apprentice and miner. From 1936 to 1938 he did his military service. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in World War II as a soldier , from which he returned badly damaged by the war. Because he was then no longer able to practice the profession he had learned, he took over his parents' grocery store.

Balkenhol was a member of the CDU. Since the 1950s he was a member of the CDU district executive in what was then the district of Brilon , from 1969 to 1975 as district chairman. From 1975 to 1977 he was deputy district chairman in the Hochsauerland district . For a long time he was also the executive chairman of the CDU Local Political Association in the Brilon district.

Balkenhol was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1972. He represented the constituency of Lippstadt - Brilon in parliament.

From 1965 to 1975 Balkenhol belonged to the district assembly of the Brilon district and then until 1985 to the district assembly of the Hochsauerland district , where he also served as parliamentary group chairman.

From 1946 to 1960 and from 1964 to 1969 Balkenhol was mayor of Elpe and from 1952 to 1969 also mayor in the Bigge office and chairman of the district council in the Brilon district.
