Bernhard Elmer

Bernhard Elmer (born November 25, 1893 in Linthal ; † March 24, 1961 in Muralto ) was a politician in the Swiss canton of Glarus .

Elmer attended the fruit and wine school in Wädenswil and became a wine merchant with his own fruit press. He was a member of the Democratic and Labor Party , the predecessor of the SVP's cantonal section . 1935-41 he was the mayor of Linthal and 1935-47 in the district . As a member of the government , he headed the cantonal building management from 1947 to 1956. During his term of office, the preparations for the construction work on Walenseestrasse and the Linth-Limmern power plants fell . From 1938 he was also on the administrative board of the Braunwaldbahn. In his old age he took up residence in Minusio .
