Bernhard Flaschberger (born July 6, 1996 ) is an Austrian cross-country skier and former Nordic combined athlete .

Career

After appearing in the Continental and Alpine Cups from the end of 2010, Flaschberger took part in the Nordic Junior Ski World Championships in 2014 . In the individual races he reached places five and twelve, together with Martin Fritz , Fabian Steindl and Philipp Orter , Bernhard Flaschberger won gold in the team competition.

At the beginning of the 2014/15 World Cup season , Flaschberger was in the Austrian World Cup line-up for the first time, and after a strong mileage he finished his first World Cup race in 14th place. The next day he started the team sprint with Christoph Bieler, who was almost 20 years older than him, and finished fifth among 23 teams. In his subsequent World Cup appearances, Flaschberger remained without points, but the 2015 Junior World Championships were successful. After finishing fourth and ten in the individual competitions, he won gold with the Austrian team like a year earlier.

At the Junior World Championships 2016 in Rasnov , he won both the individual competition on February 23 and the team competition on February 26 in Nordic combined. In the individual competition he was only 8th after the jumping, 49 seconds behind Kristjan Ilves , in the final classification he had 59.6 seconds ahead of second-placed Vinzenz Geiger (who was fourth after the jumping, 22 seconds behind been).

Flaschberger announced his end of career in Nordic combined in January 2019.

He then took part in cross-country skiing races. In February 2019 he took third place at the Gsieser Tal Lauf . In the summer of 2019, Flaschberger won the Climb the Goas, becoming the Austrian roller ski champion over 9 km. In December 2019 he achieved his first podium in the Cross-Country Continental Cup with second place in the 15 km freestyle at the US Super Tour in Sun Valley . He lives in St. Veit im Pongau and belongs to the local TSU St. Veit club.
