Bernhard Hermann (born July 11, 1949 in Ellwangen (Jagst) ) is a German radio and television journalist .

Life

Hermann studied Catholic theology and German literature in Tübingen from 1969 to 1974 and graduated as a graduate theologian. In addition to his studies, he sat in on the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) in Stuttgart and in the local editorial office Ellwangen of the Schwäbische Zeitung . Hermann is married to the television journalist Gisela Mahlmann- Hermann and has three sons. He is a member of the Catholic student union AV Cheruskia Tübingen in the CV .

  • 1972–1976 freelancer at Südwestfunk -Landesstudio Tübingen and at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart (radio)
  • 1976–1978 editor and reporter at Südwestfunk Baden-Baden, Politics and Society department (radio)
  • 1978-1980 Head of the press office of the CDU - parliamentary group , Stuttgart
  • 1980–1988 Head of the entertainment magazine department at Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden (radio)
  • 1988–1991 correspondent for the Schwäbische Zeitung and the Rheinpfalz in Beijing and freelance work for ZDF and various ARD broadcasters
  • 1992–1994 ARD radio correspondent for the PR China, Hong Kong , Macau and the People's Republic of Mongolia , based in Beijing
  • 1994–1998 head of the main directorate department of Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden
  • 1998–2012 radio director of Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and overall director of the Schwetzingen SWR Festival
