Bernhard Hochwald

Bernhard Hochwald (born June 27, 1957 in Schöneiche near Berlin ) is a former German sports shooter . He took part in four Olympic Games and was several times world and European champion in target shooting .

Bernhard Hochwald took part in four Summer Olympics , twice for the GDR and twice for the reunited team. At the Summer Olympics in 1980 in Moscow , he finished in Skeet Shooting the 19th place, in 1988 , he was in Seoul 19, 1992 in Barcelona 16th and in 1996 in Atlanta 20th

At the world championships in men's singles he won the gold medal in 1985, in 1975 he won the title with the GDR team, also in 1987. In 1986 he was team vice world champion behind Italy, in 1994 third behind Italy and Russia. At the European Championships in 1983, Hochwald won the individual title, finished second in 2002 and third in 1985 and 1995. In the team competition he won the title in 1992, came second in 1986, 1988 and 2002, and bronze was added in 1985 and 1987.

Hochwald was also very successful nationally. In 1975 and 1981 he won the title of GDR master in men's singles, in 1983, 1985 and 1990 he was second, 1986 third. With the team of his club SC Dynamo Hoppegarten he won the title in 1983. In 1991 and 1994 he was at the German championships with the club now renamed SC Diana Hoppegarten Doppeltrap runner-up, 1996 and 1999 skeet runner-up and 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2001 Third in the Skeet team in 1995 in the double trap competition. In 2000 Diana Hoppegarten's team won the skeet title with Hochwald. In individual he was runner-up in 1997 and 1998, and in 2001 third in the skeet competition. He is the half-brother of Raimund Bethge and is married to the marksman Katja Klepp .

In 1984 and 1986 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold in the GDR , in 1985 with the title of Honored Master of Sports and the honor bar for the Ernst Schneller Medal in gold, and in 1976 with the Ernst Schneller Medal in gold.
