Bernhard IV. (Lippe)
Bernhard IV zur Lippe (* around 1230 in; † June 1275 ) was the sovereign of the Lippe dominion .
Life
He was the eldest son of Bernhard III. zur Lippe and Sofie van Cuijck-Arnsberg.
In 1254 he took over the reign of Rheda and in 1265 succeeded his father as regent of the house of Lippe . His brother Hermann III. zur Lippe he inherited the city of Lippstadt .
Together with his uncle, Bishop Simon I of Paderborn , he took part in the battle of Zülpich against Haus Jülich , in which his uncle was captured. He triggered it in 1269 and thus established the Lippe family's debt .
At times he was guardian in the Ravensberg house , had disputes with Lippstadt as a member of the Rhenish Association of Cities and was liege lord of the free court Wesenfort .
Bernhard died in 1275 and was buried in the Marienfeld monastery .

From 1260 Bernhard was married to Countess Agnes von Kleve (~ 1232 - ~ August 1, 1285), daughter of Count Dietrich IV. Von Kleve and Hedwig von Meißen . The following children were born from the marriage:
- Simon I. zur Lippe (~ 1261 - August 10, 1344), married to Countess Adelheid von Waldeck
- Elisabeth zur Lippe (* around 1273), married to Count Heinrich III. to Solms-Braunfels
