Bernhard Mayer (theologian)
Bernhard Mayer (born September 19, 1939 in Lenting ; † October 17, 2011 there ) was Professor of New Testament at the theological faculty of the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt .
Life
Bernhard Mayer was born in Lenting in 1939 and ordained a priest for the Diocese of Eichstätt in 1965 . After serving in the pastoral care of the diocese and continuing his studies in Würzburg, he first became a lecturer at the Philosophical-Theological University in Eichstätt in 1972 and in the same year a full professor of New Testament science.
After his retirement in 2004, Prof. Mayer took over the professorship for two more semesters. During his 33 years at the Catholic Theological Faculty, he was its dean for two terms . He was also a member of the university senate and the faculty council for many years. For 16 years he was chairman of the editorial committee of the scientific series "Eichstätter Studies".
Since 1989 he has been a member of the Eichstätter cathedral chapter . Mayer had been a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. since 1962. Alcimonia Eichstätt in the CV .
