Bernhard Nellessen (born December 13, 1958 in Bad Ems ) is a German television journalist and radio manager.

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Ems in 1977, Nellessen studied history, philosophy and literature in Mainz from 1979 to 1984 . From 1982 to 1985 he worked as a freelancer in the "Landeskultur" editorial team at Südwestfunk (SWF) . From 1986 to 1987 he was regional radio correspondent at SWF in Mainz, from 1988 to 1995 editor, reporter and co-moderator at ZDF - heute-journal . From 1995 to 1998 he was deputy television editor-in-chief at SWF. After the merger of the SWF with the SDR to form SWR, Nellessen was editor-in-chief of television there from 1998 to 2003, moderator of the political magazine " Report Mainz " and deputy state broadcaster for Rhineland-Palatinate .

From May 1, 2003 to October 31, 2012 he was TV director of SWR , since May 2003 also ARD coordinator 3sat and since September 2003 ARD coordinator for church broadcasts.

He applied with the previous administrative director Peter Boudgoust and the state broadcaster Baden-Württemberg Willi Steul for the successor to the SWR director Peter Voss . In the second ballot on December 1, 2006, the Broadcasting Council elected Peter Boudgoust.

At the end of 2012 Nellessen renounced a third term as television director and founded a consulting company with a focus on foundation advice, coaching and communication based in Mainz.

Nellessen has also emerged with literary publications. For his poetry volumes "An den Wassern von Rhein und Ruhr" (Munich 1981) and "Neu light die Fences" (Munich 1984) he was awarded a residency grant from the Literary Colloquium Berlin (1981) and the sponsorship award of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate (1985) excellent. As editor he published a volume of materials on poetry and prose by Walter Helmut Fritz "Sentences are windows" (Lebach / Saar 1989).

Bernhard Nellessen lives in Mainz. He has two grown daughters and is married to the journalist Monika Nellessen.
