Bernhard Neundörfer

Bernhard Jos. Neundörfer (born July 20, 1937 in Worms ) is a German neurologist .

Life

Bernhard Neundörfer studied medicine in Munich and Heidelberg. After completing his specialist training as a specialist in neurology and psychiatry in Munich, Freiburg and Heidelberg with study visits to Zurich and Copenhagen, from 1969 he was senior physician at the neurological clinic of the Mannheim University Hospital . In 1965 he was approved. He completed his habilitation at the University of Heidelberg in 1972 and received the venia Lgendi for neurology. In 1978 he received a call to the chair of neurology with the management of the university clinic at the Schleswig-Holstein University Clinic at the University of Lübeck .

In 1984 he moved to the chair of neurology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg , where he also took over the management of the neurological clinic with polyclinic. Neundörfer is a co-founder of the Interdisciplinary Center "Public Health" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Interdisciplinary Center for Pain Therapy (ZIST) at the University Hospital Erlangen.

Act

Neundörfer's main teaching and research areas were clinical neurophysiology ( electroencephalography , electromyography , electroneurography ), diagnosis and therapy of neuromuscular diseases, especially polyneuropathies , the autonomic (vegetative) nervous system , epidemiology of stroke and public health .

Neundörfer has written and published numerous books and scientific papers, including in well-known national and international journals. He has organized numerous national and international scientific congresses, including annual meetings of the German Society for Neurology , the German Society for Muscle Sick People and the European Federation of Autonomic Societies .

He is the founder and chairman of the Autonomic Nervous System Working Group , board member of the German Society for Muscle Sicknesses , the Victor von Weizsäcker Society , the European Federation of Autonomic Society (EFAS), the Bavarian Research and Action Association "Public Health".

Neundörfer is involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land and has been a long-standing member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1988, Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Cardinal Caprio appointed him Knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. On May 14, 1988, the Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy Archbishop Franz Cardinal Hengsbach invested him in Aachen Cathedral . Most recently he was an officer of the Papal Laity Order.
