Bernhard Raestrup

Bernhard Raestrup (born January 25, 1880 in Oelde ; † July 20, 1959 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( center , CDU ).

Life and work

Raestrup was born as the son of a manufacturer who ran the August Raestrup malt factory in Oelde. After attending grammar school in Münster up to the upper secondary level, he went to the higher commercial school and completed commercial training. He then worked in his parents' business. In 1906 he also founded the stamping and enamelling factory "Krone" Raestrup & Co. in Oelde. During the Weimar Republic he was chairman of the Association of West German Enameling Works. He also acted as a commercial judge.

Political party

Raestrup joined the Center Party in 1919, was first district chairman from 1920 and was elected chairman of the Westphalian Center Party in 1931. After the Second World War he joined the CDU. Since 1945 he was chairman of the CDU district association Beckum.

MP

Raestrup was a city ​​councilor in Oelde. He was a member of the Provincial Parliament of Westphalia from 1921 to 1933 and served as its president from 1931 to 1933. In 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

In 1945 Raestrup was elected to the district council of the Beckum district. He was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1957. In 1949, as in 1953 , he represented the constituency of Beckum - Warendorf in parliament as a directly elected member , and in 1953 he received 67.5% of the first votes. In the second legislative period he was the third oldest member of the Bundestag after Chancellor Konrad Adenauer (CDU) and Marie-Elisabeth Lüders ( FDP ).
