Bernhard Wyss (writer)

Bernhard Wyss or Wyß (born December 14, 1833 in Kappel SO ; † January 26, 1890 in Solothurn ) was a Swiss writer .

After completing the teachers' seminar, Wyss worked as a teacher in Büsserach , Hochwald SO and Zuchwil from 1852 , and at the high school in Solothurn from 1858 until his death . The stresses and strains of his full-time occupation restricted him to the possibilities of his writing and left behind only a small complete oeuvre, of which, however, two works enjoyed somewhat greater attention: Aus Schule und Leben (1865) was also taken into account in Austria , as writing provides information about offered the last years of the Austrian-American writer's life, Charles Sealsfield (Carl Postl), which he spent in Solothurn; Wyss' brief description of the canton of Solothurn served as a teaching aid at the Solothurn primary schools and experienced several editions.
