Bernhard Zittel

Bernhard Zittel (* 1912 in Muggensturm near Rastatt ; † January 10, 1983 in Starnberg ) was a German archivist .

Zittel studied philosophy at the Philosophical University (Berchmannskolleg) in Pullach near Munich from 1935 to 1938 . He received his doctorate in modern history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1947 and headed the Munich State Archives from 1968 to 1970 . From 1970 to 1977 he was director general of the Bavarian State Archives .
