The Munich State Archive is the Bavarian State Archive responsible for the Upper Bavaria administrative region . For documentation of the administration responsible for the entire country authorities and institutions of Bavaria is Bavarian State Archives in charge.
In 1979 Josef Oberberger designed unleaded glass windows for the main state archive, which he designed mainly with silver yellow. The motifs show archival material from the manuscript collection there. In addition, his blown glass painting The Glass Painting School was added.
The building of the Munich State Archives at Schönfeldstrasse 3 / corner of Ludwigstrasse is in the immediate vicinity of the Bavarian Main State Archives and the Bavarian State Library .
Stocks
The holdings of the State Archives include:
- Former rent master offices in Munich and Burghausen and the Bavarian regions of Tyrol and Salzburg between 1805 and 1816, aristocratic archives (e.g. Hohenaschau , Toerring ).
- State central and subordinate authorities as well as courts in the administrative region of Upper Bavaria from the beginning of the 19th century.
The volume is around 37,000 running meters with around 11.3 million archive units.
