Berthold Bühler (born February 12, 1952 in Messkirch ) is a German chef , he was a restaurant owner and hotelier .

Career

After training as a chef, Bühler worked as Chef de Partie on the MS Rotterdam in 1970 . After that he went as a Sous Chef to Günter Scherrer in the restaurant San Francisco in the Hilton Hotel in Dusseldorf , which with a Michelin star was awarded. In 1978 Bühler passed his master craftsman examination in Baden-Baden and became head chef at the Sheraton in Essen . In this position he received the award for the world's best corporate chef.

In January 1983 he became the patron and, together with Henri Bach, head chef at the Résidence in Essen-Kettwig. The first Michelin star was awarded in 1984, the second in 1989, which it has held since then. In 2006 he opened the second restaurant Club B in the Hotel Résidence . In February 2012, Henri Bach ended the 27-year collaboration with Bühler. Since the beginning of 2015, Eric Werner has been the sole head chef at the residence .

At the end of 2016, after 34 years, Bühler closed his restaurant and retired.

His wife, Uta Bühler, is the managing director of Sternklasse magazine , which focuses on top - class restaurant service .
