Berthold Wiese

Berthold Heinrich Friedrich Wiese (born December 19, 1859 in Rostock ; † May 3, 1932 ) was a German Romanist and Italianist.

life and work

Wiese received his doctorate in 1883 under Adolf Tobler in Berlin with the thesis on the language of the Tesoretto Brunetto Latino and was high school professor at the Grand Ducal Real-Gymnasium in Ludwigslust . From 1889 until his retirement in 1925, he was teaching Italian at the University of Halle (from 1914 as a professor). He taught until the year he died.
